Metro K9 Academy trains, raises and cares for dogs at our facility at 570 Mine Brook Road in Bernardsville, New Jersey. Everything here is built for one purpose: dogs that are calm, reliable and ready for real life.
Puppies take their first steps here. Client dogs train here. Our own German Shepherds and Dobermans live and work here. Robert Gierla and our trainers are on site every day.
Metro K9 Academy trains on the same grounds as Bernardsville K9 Resort & Spa. The resort handles grooming, boarding and day care. All training, breeding and puppy placement is Metro K9 Academy.
What’s on Site
- A Schutzhund-size training field for obedience, protection and sport work
- Obstacle and agility areas that build confidence and body awareness
- A scent wall and tracking areas for detection and tracking training
- Walking trails for conditioning and real-world practice
- A treadmill for structured exercise in any weather
- Indoor and outdoor kennels for dogs in our Stay & Learn and day programs
- Quiet areas for evaluations, handling and puppy development
How Dogs Live and Train Here
We keep our numbers small, so every dog gets real attention. Stay & Learn is limited to three dogs at a time.
- Kennels are cleaned and maintained every day
- Every dog follows a predictable routine of training, exercise and rest
- Dogs are handled by the same experienced trainers
- Day training dogs get supervised time with other dogs, plus exercise and enrichment
Consistency is what makes training stick. It is also what makes dogs calmer.
